Heeeeyyy Macarena!!!

we just arrived to rome yesterday. with sleep deprivation and all we still wanted to venture the city. we went to campo di fiore, piazza navona, spanish steps, and piazza de poppolo to name a few things. mauricios broken italian and spanish has been getting us around pretty well.

here is the spanish steps at nights. it seemed like there was some spanish soccer rally going on. all spanish kids were chanting ole, ole, ole as well as hey macarena, very random.

today is the day

we are finally leaving today after months of planning. i am so excited that i can hardly contain myself. i popped a xanax to calm myself down. it seems to have worked. we have a 2 hour stopover in Amsterdam on the way to Rome. the flight is 10 hours long. all i have to say is thank god for Ambien! mauricio is really excited. this is the furthest he has ever been from home.

so far we have a few things planned in Rome. on saturday we have a date night. we're going to the Galleria Borghese to check out some art. then having dinner in the neighborhood. on monday we're taking a long tour of Palatine Hill, the Forum and Colosseum. on tuesday we're taking a tour of the Vatican. it should be pretty crazy since it's Holy Week. thursday night we're going to our first european football game. roma v. manchester united in the quarterfinal leg of the champions league. it's going to be insane!

as of now i'm really ambitious and want to update our blog everyday. keep checking back for updates and pictures.

2 year anniversary

Today is our 2 year anniversary. Pretty uneventful. We're not doing anything special so that we could save money for our trip. What did we do today? We watched NCAA basketball, went to the taco truck for lunch, and went to the bookstore. We leave for our trip next week. Can't wait!

AS Roma v. Manchester United

It was just confirmed yesterday that AS Roma and Manchester United will be facing each other in the quarterfinals in the Champions League. They will be playing in Rome on April 4th. We are extending our stay in Rome another day just to watch the match. This is very exciting for me since I'm a big Manchester United fan. It will probably be my only chance to see them since I have no plans of going to England anytime soon. Going to the Stadio Olimpico will be cool. It seats 80,000 people!
